    Join us in discussing Lois Lowry’s classic text, The Giver. We will be going as a group after to see the film adaptation.

    What is ‘speculative fiction’ and what does it have to do with utopian studies? Come chat about genre, fantasy, science fiction, and what it might mean.

    Thursday, November 13 @ 6:30 — V. Roth’s Divergent on Film
    Watch the film version of Veronica Roth’s book Divergent and come talk with us. How does this dystopian vision function and why does it seem so relevant to so many?

    Thursday, December 4 @ 6:30 — The Magicians by L. Grossman
    Read Lev Grossman’s The Magicians– the first in the recently completed trilogy– and join us in our discussion on genre, imagination, and magic in fiction.
