    > The Institute for Teaching, Learning, & Academic Leadership (ITLAL) is seeking a full time Instructional Consultant. An Instructional Consultant’s primary role is to support instructors in implementing evidence-based teaching and professional practice. The goal of this work is to improve faculty careers (positively affect satisfaction, effectiveness, and ultimately retention) and support instructors in increasing student learning. Effective faculty development leading to meaningful change in teaching and professional practice requires intensive, ongoing, faculty-driven engagement.

    > The Instructional Consultant will support ITLAL’s focus on promoting research-driven pedagogy that is designed to ensure students’ academic achievement and personal growth by engaging in the following activities:

    > · Building ongoing consultative relationships with faculty to support them as they adopt new teaching practices

    > · Collaborating with other ITLAL staff to develop and deliver new programming to build greater awareness of research-based teaching practices that lead to student success and retention

    > · Supporting instructors who are designing and preparing to teach fully online and blended courses

    > · Developing and publishing original content to build instructors’ awareness of best practices and lead to ongoing consultative work

    > · Observing classes to provide feedback that will help instructors adopt more engaging and effective teaching practices

    > · Developing proficiency in practices demonstrated to support the success of under-prepared students and students from underrepresented groups

    > · Developing expertise in new evidence-based teaching methods designed to lead to greater levels of student engagement and success.

    > Requirements:

    > · Doctorate or near completion of doctoral degree in any university discipline from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting agency

    > · Evidence of recent university level experience consulting with faculty and graduate students on issues of teaching, learning and professional development

    > · Experience in independent project development and delivery
    >
    > · 3 years experience as a university instructor
    >
    > · Knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to work and consult with a socially and culturally diverse university community
    >
    > · Strong background in pedagogical theory and practice, including face-to-face, blended, and/or and online pedagogy, and background or interest in issues of diversity and inclusive excellence

    > · Excellent communication skills

    > · Experience in writing and publishing for an academic audience
