    Your Way to Full Professorship at a German University of Applied Sciences

    For North American, German and other international doctoral candidates and postdocs with an interest obtaining a full professorship in Germany. Students from all disciplines are welcome, but there is a larger number of professorships available in STEM and applied social science fields.

    German universities of applied sciences (UAS) offer bachelor degrees, master’s degrees, and selected doctoral degrees. UAS are practice-oriented, engage in applied research, thrive on hands-on education and focus on students, and are deeply intertwined with local, regional and global economies and transfer, and their regional interconnectedness fosters innovative, entrepreneurial vibes. During this dynamic time there are myriads of paths to full professorship at universities of applied sciences in Germany, and as many open positions! Qualified candidates bring academic qualifications, as well as relevant work experience outside of a university setting.

    We are looking for you, dynamic doctoral candidates or postdocs, from the US, Germany and beyond, who love to teach, who are self-starters with an entrepreneurial mindset, and who are eager to positively contribute and shape the institutions they are part of.

    This workshop will address the following questions: How do you get a professorship at a university of applied sciences? What are the prerequisites, what should you bring to the table for full professorship? What qualifies as sufficient work experience and how to establish that? During this event, we will highlight pathways and support structures, also as they relate to visa questions, as well as connections for further conversation.
