Teacher Librarians

This group is sponsored by LILAC (Library Information Literacy Advisory Committee). We hope it will become a platform to discuss the teaching role of librarians, and the importance of information literacy as a life-long learning skill. We invite any faculty members of the University that are interested in information literacy, and what is the role of the library in that process, to join in the conversation.

  • CUNY AI Literacy Efforts – Care to Share?

Hello, I’m a new member to this Group –

January 2, 2025 I started at BCC as the Reference & Instructional Design librarian and quickly found a “calling” of sorts to promote AI Literacy/Fluency among the students. With music as my other interest to library work, I have attended numerous conferences and been reading about AI for months now. . . In March I presented 4 AI Library Workshops, and this summer I will be modifying and supplementing the materials in this workshop to create a 3-level AI Student Course in Brightspace, with assessments and a digital badge upon completion of each level.

Since being here I’ve been trying to figure out what other CUNY schools, especially CUNY Librarians are doing in the area of AI Literacy.

Can others share what they are doing in their CUNY spheres?  Perhaps we can learn something in the process and even collaborate.
