Spring 2022 Applied Humanities/Experiential Learning Lab

This seminar connects the many strengths developed by students studying the humanities with theories of experiential learning. Amidst the many and multiple efforts nationwide to strengthen, reconceive and support humanities education, at John Jay, we will explore the question: How does a humanities education prepare students to work for justice in their post-graduate lives?
In 2021-22, we aim to support faculty members’ efforts to design curriculum and learning experiences that advance students’ abilities to apply concepts, strategies and ways of knowing particular to the humanities to address current justice issues and cultivate professional post-graduate plans. In year one of this project, faculty participants will participate in a spring semester seminar, pilot one or two activities, and contribute to a digital instructional resource.
