Sociology M.S. in Applied Social Research

This is the group is for Hunter College’s M.S. program in Applied Digital Sociology. Rising Tide Research Institute – Paid Research Position (possible internship)

  • Rising Tides Research Institute (RTRI) is seeking graduate students with an interest in critical race theory, the arts and social justice, and with a passion for action-oriented research taking place here in New York City.

    Rising Tides Research Institute (RTRI), the research department of Arts Business Collaborative, is seeking applicants for a part-time, paid, research assistant role for a nine month, project-specific internship. The applicant must currently be enrolled in a CUNY graduate program in the humanities, social sciences, arts administration or closely related field and have experience working through a critical race theory lens. Interest in either dance or theater is necessary, with secondary interests in sociology, political science or economics considered useful. The position requires extensive collaboration with a small research team, the capacity to execute independently when working remotely, experience with mixed-method research frameworks, well-developed organizational skills, a desire to engage in community organizing and the arts, impeccable discretion, outstanding communication skills, the capacity to conduct intake interviews and the desire to participate in all phases of the research process deemed necessary by the primary investigator and lead researchers. This position is an integral part of RTRI’s upcoming project, and therefore must be able to commit to the full nine month framework.

    There is a 3 stage interview process. Applicants invited to the second round of interviews will be asked to provide two written recommendations, at least one of which must come from graduate faculty. The second recommendation may come from a direct supervisor or community member.

    Review of applications will begin March 9th. Applications will not be accepted after March 19th. The start date for this role is April 5th. Accepted applicants are encouraged to work with research leadership and school administrators to maximize the opportunity to gain earned credits for this role.
