Sixth Street Community Center advances food access to Lower East side residents through Community Supported Agriculture or CSA. Via their collaboration with Hempworth Farm, SSCC promotes direct access to fresh produce grown in New York’s Hudson Valley. They also subsidize fruit and vegetable shares for low-income families in the local community. Running seasonal memberships for fruit and vegetable shares, SSCC promotes the availability of produce in the community at prices that support the farm while simultaneously making it more affordable for residents.
