This group showcases the journalistic work of its members, who have been honing their writing style and are now lending their voices to advocate for a local organization they’ve chosen to support.
For over 40 years, The Silver Shield Foundation has helped the children of New York City firefighters and police officers who have been killed in the line of duty obtain their educational aspirations by providing 20 thousand dollars in tuition assistance for each child affected by such tragedies. The organization also provides mental health services and community outreach programs for these children and the widowed spouses that have suffered the loss of a fallen hero who gave their life in the pursuit of protecting the public in our great city. This video showcases their mission statement and features interviews with the families affected by loss and shows just how much the program has meant to them to ensure a bright future for those children who have grown up without one or more of their parents who made the ultimate sacrifice for us all.
