For over 40 years, The Silver Shield Foundation has helped the children of New York City firefighters and police officers who have been killed in the line of duty obtain their educational aspirations by providing 20 thousand dollars in tuition assistance for each child affected by such tragedies. The organization also provides mental health services and community outreach programs for these children and the widowed spouses that have suffered the loss of a fallen hero who gave their life in the pursuit of protecting the public in our great city.
