I have chosen HCZ for my research project due to my personal experience at the organization. I have been a part of the Harlem Children’s Zone since 2017, my freshman year of high school. HCZ is an organization that provides students, starting from kindergarten, with a space to learn new skills by joining clubs like the cooking club, film club, fashion clubs, or even sports clubs. The organization also encourages students to participate in volunteer activities in the community such as the suicide prevention walk, the breast cancer walks, giving food to the community and planting trees.
