This group showcases the journalistic work of its members, who have been honing their writing style and are now lending their voices to advocate for a local organization they’ve chosen to support.
The organization I chose for my project is called CAMBA INC, I got to participate in this organization during 2021-2022 when I was in high school because they were working and providing their teachings and support to the students of my high school. The organization was formed in 1977 in Flatbush New York, this organization was founded by Valerie Barton-Richardson to help low-income communities, people who faced racial, gender and economic discrimination. It is currently led by Joanne M. Oplustil. The main location of CAMBA INC is 1720 Church Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11226. Currently, CAMBA has multiple locations in Brooklyn, and they offer their help mainly in high schools and housing centers for people in need, not only do they recognize the different difficulties that people have to pay their rent, have health insurance and even have legal status. CAMBA offers low-income men and women the technical training needed to launch small businesses.
