PUG – Python User’s Group

Python User’ Group (or PUG for short) is an open and informal collaborative space for experimentation and exploration with the Python programming language. It is an opportunity for those interested in Python to work together virtually and find support. Whether you are looking for advice or assistance with new or current projects, looking to discuss and learn new skills using Python tools, or to join us to play around with our collection of sample datasets, PUG is your place!

PUG is open to people of all skill levels, disciplines, and backgrounds. Complete beginners to Python will find a place here. Come, and let’s learn together.

Join PUG Slack here: https://join.slack.com/t/pug-world/shared_invite/zt-iube7uch-nVkvtIyIbpaqtQSZcMB2Ig

PUG is cosponsored by the MA in Digital Humanities / MS in Data Analytics and Visualization programs and the Mina Rees Library.

  • Hello all,

This spring, the GC Digital Fellows will officially be launching the R Users\’ Group (i.e., RUG), a place for newbies and experts alike to learn and work together on projects using the statistical programming language, R.

Do you want to learn the best practices for creating a reproducible workflow but don’t know where to begin? Struggling to figure out the best methods for wrangling a messy data set? Want to build a clean and professional website using free and open-source tools? We can do all this and more using R! Join us to learn how to unlock the full potential of the R ecosystem.

We will be meeting on alternating Fridays from 3:30-5pm at the Digital Scholarship Lab (room 7414), starting next Friday, February 14th. Please mark the following dates in your calendar if you would like to participate:

    • Feb 14, 28
    • Mar 13, 27
    • Apr 24

We hope you\’ll be able to join us!  If you\’d like to join the conversation, be sure to join our commons group.

    Best,

    Natalie, Connor, and Di

P.S. If you would like to delve into Python as well be sure to check out our allied group, PUG: Python Users\’ Group.  They will be meeting at the same time and place on alternate Fridays from us!
