PUG – Python User’s Group

Python User’ Group (or PUG for short) is an open and informal collaborative space for experimentation and exploration with the Python programming language. It is an opportunity for those interested in Python to work together virtually and find support. Whether you are looking for advice or assistance with new or current projects, looking to discuss and learn new skills using Python tools, or to join us to play around with our collection of sample datasets, PUG is your place!

PUG is open to people of all skill levels, disciplines, and backgrounds. Complete beginners to Python will find a place here. Come, and let’s learn together.

Join PUG Slack here: https://join.slack.com/t/pug-world/shared_invite/zt-iube7uch-nVkvtIyIbpaqtQSZcMB2Ig

PUG is cosponsored by the MA in Digital Humanities / MS in Data Analytics and Visualization programs and the Mina Rees Library.

Pug meetings and the next weeks

  • Dear Puggers,

As you can imagine, in-person PUG meetings were cancelled. Right now, we Digital Fellows are trying to focus on helping people transition their classes to online formats.

(To sign up for a consultation, fill this form. For more resources and to know how the Digital Initiatives will proceed in the upcoming weeks, click here. We also suggest joining the CUNY Continuity Slack space, where people from all cuny campuses are sharing resources and tips.)

Since we all will be staying at home, I imagine many of you will try to advance your Python journey once the dust settles. I very much encourage that. 30 minutes a day that you reserve for some python exercises will take you far.

As we move, we will consider the possibility of online PUG meetings or other formats to support you. But right now, try to make use of our forum in the commons group. If you have a question, ask there, and there will be people to help you. If you learned something interesting, or is proud of a problem that you solved, share it there so we can see it.

Keep well, keep safe, keep coding.
    Rafa
