PUG – Python User’s Group

Python User’ Group (or PUG for short) is an open and informal collaborative space for experimentation and exploration with the Python programming language. It is an opportunity for those interested in Python to work together virtually and find support. Whether you are looking for advice or assistance with new or current projects, looking to discuss and learn new skills using Python tools, or to join us to play around with our collection of sample datasets, PUG is your place!

PUG is open to people of all skill levels, disciplines, and backgrounds. Complete beginners to Python will find a place here. Come, and let’s learn together.

Join PUG Slack here: https://join.slack.com/t/pug-world/shared_invite/zt-iube7uch-nVkvtIyIbpaqtQSZcMB2Ig

PUG is cosponsored by the MA in Digital Humanities / MS in Data Analytics and Visualization programs and the Mina Rees Library.

GC Digital Initiatives Offers Remote Consultations and Services

  • Note: The following email was sent to all EOs and APOs at the Graduate Center on Monday, March 16.

    Dear Colleagues,

As the university transitions to remote instruction, research, and work, GC Digital Initiatives staff is available for consultations on a wide range of topics related to technology. We invite GC faculty, students, and staff to use this form to set up 30 minute appointments.

All in-person GCDI workshops have been cancelled for the Spring semester and the GC Digital Scholarship Lab is closed until further notice. Other activities, such as working groups, are on pause as the GCDI supports collective efforts to move university activities online.

We encourage GC faculty and students to make use of online resources posted on the GC Digital Initiatives website, including:

    • Guides and Tutorials (includes resources on Data and Databases; Design; Mapping; Programming (including Python); Project Management; Projects; Text Analysis; Web Development; Social Media and Scholarly Publication)
    • Digital Scholarship Resources
    • Working Groups (currently on pause, but will restart the week after classes resume)

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with questions, suggestions, or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Matt and Lisa
