Listenin’ to the City CCNY/CWE

The aim of this group is to explore ‘listening’ as part of a journalistic practice. Our members have actively listened to local organizations throughout the city and work on a digital project to document their experiences through expository and creative writing, audio/video recordings and photography.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden – Community Engagement/Events

Through a variety of community engagement initiatives, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden upholds the importance and involvement of its residents. Events for members, families with children, adult workshops, tours, and extraordinary events are all accessible. The Gardens organizes activities throughout the year. In April, there are Hanami Nights among the festivities. On Cherry Esplanade, Hanami Nights offer an opportunity to celebrate spring, take in the lit-up cherry blossoms, and spend quality time with loved ones. Explore the Cherry Walk and Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, take an origami class, and see a carefully chosen collection of bonsai in the Lillian and Amy Goldman Atrium.

In the evenings, there will be performances by live acts, a bar with an extensive selection of Japanese beers and sake, and carefully prepared pop-up dining menus created in association with Sunrise Mart. By immersing guests in Japan’s rich culture and delectable cuisine, this carefully crafted experience hopes to honor Japanese hospitality and artistry. Attendees are welcome to indulge their senses and taste the essence of Japan’s rich culinary tradition with live entertainment, cool drinks, and delicious cuisine.
