The aim of this group is to explore ‘listening’ as part of a journalistic practice. Our members have actively listened to local organizations throughout the city and work on a digital project to document their experiences through expository and creative writing, audio/video recordings and photography.

    Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) invites visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of spring blooms and celebrate cherry blossom season with a lineup of special events from April 27 to May 12. During weekends in this period, BBG will host a series of engaging activities, including pop-up music and dance performances, morning programming for kids and families in the Discovery Garden, and guided tours. All programs are free with Garden admission, offering a delightful experience for visitors of all ages. 

    Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) is organizing special events, welcoming visitors from near and far to join in the festivities. 

    BBG’s special events weekends feature a range of activities, including: 

    Spring Family Discovery Weekends: Interactive learning and play activities in the Discovery Garden, facilitated by volunteer Discovery Docents and teen garden apprentices. 

    The NY Arabic Orchestra Trio presents Mosaic: A musical celebration of Arab culture with classical and contemporary repertoire. 

    Batalá New York: An all-woman, Black-led percussion ensemble delivering high-energy performances of Afro-Brazilian music and dance. 

    Seasonal Highlights Tour: Guided walks led by trained Garden Guides, showcasing BBG’s plants and gardens in peak bloom. 

    Tiga Jean-Baptiste and his band TCHAKA: A performance blending Haitian and Shona music from Zimbabwe, set against the backdrop of the Osborne Garden. 

    The special events will take place on weekends from April 27 to May 12, offering visitors multiple opportunities to enjoy the festivities. All activities will be held at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, located in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. These special events aim to celebrate the arrival of spring, highlight the beauty of cherry blossom season, and provide an enriching experience for visitors by offering engaging activities and performances. 

    Visitors can participate in the special events by purchasing admission to Brooklyn Botanic Garden and joining the various activities.
