    Hi all,

In the fall, the LACUNY Scholarly Communications Roundtable met on a set schedule, which worked for many but unfortunately not everyone who wanted to attend. This semester, I’ll schedule each meeting separately, with its own poll, in the hopes of finding a good time for the fuller set of interested folks.

In February, we’ll be discussing four extremely brief chapters from the book Scholarly Communication Librarianship and Open Knowledge. At the suggestion of Beth Evans (thank you!), I’m selecting these chapters from the “Intersections” portion of the “Voices from the Field” section of the book – they all look at how scholarly communications work intersects with other types of library work, and they all include a few discussion questions that can structure our conversation:

    • Defining Collection Development as Operational Scholarly Communication in Academic Libraries (Leslie Cronk): pp. 439-442
    • Library Publishing and Collection Development: Eliminating Information Asymmetry (Emma Molls): pp. 447-451
    • Putting Community in Scholarly Communication: Partnerships with Public Libraries (Anali Maughan Perry and Eric Prosser): pp. 453-456
    • Bridging Scholarly Communication and Data Services: Intersections in Openness and Sharing (Erin Jerome and Thea Atwood): pp. 461-464

If you’re interesting in joining this meeting, please fill out this doodle poll.

    Thanks!
    Jill

Thanks to everyone who’s already voted in the Doodle poll for SCRT’s February meeting. If you think you’d like to attend the February meeting and haven’t yet voted, please vote by Friday. I’ll finalize the meeting time on Monday.

As a reminder, during the February meeting we’ll discuss these extremely brief chapters from Scholarly Communication Librarianship and Open Knowledge:

    • Defining Collection Development as Operational Scholarly Communication in Academic Libraries (Leslie Cronk): pp. 439-442
    • Library Publishing and Collection Development: Eliminating Information Asymmetry (Emma Molls): pp. 447-451
    • Putting Community in Scholarly Communication: Partnerships with Public Libraries (Anali Maughan Perry and Eric Prosser): pp. 453-456
    • Bridging Scholarly Communication and Data Services: Intersections in Openness and Sharing (Erin Jerome and Thea Atwood): pp. 461-464

    Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll for the next LACUNY Scholarly Communications Roundtable. There was no time that worked for everyone, but a time that worked for most is: Monday, February 26 @ 12-1pm.

Let’s meet then at this Zoom link:

Reminder! We’re having a LACUNY Scholarly Communications Roundtable meeting on Monday, February 26 @ 12-1pm.

We’ll be discussing these four extremely brief chapters from the book Scholarly Communication Librarianship and Open Knowledge — they all look at how scholarly communications work intersects with other types of library work, and they all include a few discussion questions that can structure our conversation:

    • Defining Collection Development as Operational Scholarly Communication in Academic Libraries (Leslie Cronk): pp. 439-442

    • Bridging Scholarly Communication and Data Services: Intersections in Openness and Sharing (Erin Jerome and Thea Atwood): pp. 461-464

If you can read them (or some of them) ahead of time, that would be wonderful. (But please don’t feel like you can’t attend if you’re not able to carve out the time to read them!)

    See you soon!
