LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee

The LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee is dedicated to collaborative exploration of technologies that further the CUNY libraries’ missions. Through workshops, hack days, demoes, and other meetings, CUNY librarians learn new skills from each other and cultivate a community of openness, sharing, and encouragement.

LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee 2014-15 Planning Meeting
    Tuesday, August 26, 2014
    3:30pm–5:00pm
CUNY Office of Library Services, 555 W 57th St., 10th floor, Conference room 10-B

Join the LACUNY Em Tech Committee as we exchange ideas and plan another incredible year. We share knowledge, present projects, ask advice, exchange code, and teach workshops for novices and experts alike. How can we use technology, whether legacy or cutting-edge, to better serve the CUNY community? What new skills can we librarians add to our toolbox? What criticisms and opportunities does new tech invite? Who would we like to invite to speak or teach? Come by our planning meeting and help us map out a year of activities.

    Agenda:
    Introductions
    Old business: review of 2013-14
New business: workshops, hack days, and other events you want to see

Open to all CUNY librarians (really! You don't have to know how to code). RSVP at http://bit.ly/letcrsvp

For a list of last year's events, which included two programming for beginners workshops and a makerspace tour, peek at our summary: http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/lacuny-emerging-technologies-committee/docs/summary-of-2013-14-activities/
