Internet Research Team

The Internet Research Team is a student-led group of scholars interested in exploring, discussing, and using online and digital research methods. The group also includes faculty and staff and meets regularly throughout the year. We invite people of all levels of technical skills who are conducting or have an interest in online and digital research to join the group here on the Commons and attend the meetings.

    Coding to Write: Making Digital Stories with Scratch

    Scratch , the super-simple programming language that allows anyone to learn to code, is a wonderful platform for digital storytelling and animation. It's also at the center of a thriving community of educators called ScratchED . Join Mitch Resnick, creator of Scratch, and Karen Brennan, leader of ScratchEd, for a look at how you can use Scratch in your classroom as a story, animation, and game-creation environment.

    Understanding Systems through eTextile (Puppet) Design

    Drawing from curriculum designs that are part of an upcoming book series created in partnership with the NWP called Understanding Systems: Curriculum Design for a Complex World, this workshop will enter the world of systems thinking and design through puppets and electronic textile technology. Join Kylie Peppler and Melissa Gresalfi in simultaneously stitching together, collaboratively iterating, and pleasantly unpacking systems while exploring what's possible to connect, both literally and figuratively, using conductive threads and materials.
