Digital Studies Group

The Digital Studies Group (DSG) brings together CUNY faculty members, researchers, and doctoral students interested in a broad range of intellectual, cultural, economic, legal, and pedagogical issues related to the growing impact of digital media on the ways we read, think, teach, learn and entertain ourselves in the United States and across the globe. Beginning in fall 2009, the seminar will meet periodically at The CUNY Graduate Center to hear presentations of ongoing digital media research work, to discuss traditional and online texts on digital media issues, and to explore new digital media approaches to cultural production and to questions of teaching and learning.

CCRC hosts Blogs@Baruch 4/22 6:30pm

  • Greetings,

We interrupt this solemn day with a reminder, but please know our thoughts are with those in Boston, wishing the community safety and peace.

Please join the Graduate Center Composition and Rhetoric Community for our upcoming meeting on Monday, April 22th from 6:30 – 8:30 in room 5409. To lead this week’s discussion, we welcome Dr. Mikhail Gershovich and Dr. Luke Waltzer from the Bernard L. Scwartz Communication Institute at Baruch College. They will be presenting their work on Blogs@Baruch, an online publishing and academic networking platform for the Baruch college community.

Drs. Gershovich and Waltzer provide the following description of their presentation:

Blogs@Baruch has nurtured a culture of publishing on campus that has impacted the ways that composition and rhetoric are taught and considered on campus. We’ll detail the various contours of publishing that have emerged on Blogs@Baruch and explore their implications for writing instruction and the integration of writing into other parts of the school’s curriculum. We will also discuss several faculty members’ innovative approaches to teaching writing with B@B that incorporate other emerging technologies, including 3D printing, web radio, and physical computing.

We hope to see you there! As usual, snacks and refreshments will be provided, and all are welcome to attend. Please respond to gc.comprhet@gmail.com if you plan to attend so we can order enough food for everyone.

    Cheers,
    Andrew Lucchesi and Amanda Licastro
    GCCRC Co-Chairs
