Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

    Good Afternoon,

We’re looking to hire two instructional technologists to join us at Trinity
    College:

    *Position Summary*

Trinity College seeks a staff that reflects the changing demographics of
our student body. Our student body is diverse, representing 41 states and
70 countries, with 21 percent U.S. students of color and 50 percent who
identify as women. More than 90 percent of students live on campus. Trinity
is a highly selective, independent, nonsectarian liberal arts institution
located in the capital city of Hartford, Connecticut. With more than 2,100
full-time undergraduate students and 91 graduate students, the college
maintains a rigorous academic profile complemented by a vibrant and diverse
co-curricular program. We consider our location in a culturally and
socioeconomically diverse capital city to be among Trinity’s most
distinctive assets, and we cultivate strong connections with our
surrounding neighbors and with institutions and organizations throughout
Hartford and the region. As a preeminent liberal arts college in an urban
setting, Trinity College prepares students to be bold, independent thinkers
    who lead transformative lives.

The Digital Learning & Scholarship group is looking for two innovative
individuals to complete our team. While we are looking for people that can
support our current general academic technology services, there are various
opportunities for us to expand our expertise in the areas of
virtual/augmented reality, GIS, data analytics/visualization, maker
technologies, high performance computing, generative AI and digital
scholarship. We would like applicants to include details in their cover
letter that specifically address their experience and/or interest in at
least one of these areas, or another area of opportunity for our team,
especially in regard to a small liberal arts college community. These
positions will require candidates to be eager learners proficient in a wide
range of technologies and digital scholarship processes. Extensive
expertise is not expected, just the willingness and capacity to learn and
grow. This position is primarily in–person. Trinity College offers flexible
    and remote work policies.

    The Instructional Technologist:

    – Collaborates with faculty, programs, and departments on the use and
implementation of instructional technology tools and platforms. This
includes learning management systems, discipline-specific software, and
other pedagogical and digital scholarship tools.
    – Partners with faculty to design, develop and execute technology-rich
digital assignments, projects, and course materials.
    – Coordinates, develops, and conducts workshops and instruction sessions
for faculty, staff and students on various educational and
    technology-related topics.
    – Creates training materials and documentation on the use of Trinity’s
learning management system (Moodle), digital scholarship tools, classroom
computing technology, and other relevant educational technology software.
    – Identifies, adopts, and implements relevant educational technology
    innovations.
    – Plans and markets training events for faculty and students.
    – May manage the Student Technology Assistant (STA) program based on
experience and interest. The STA program employs students that provide
support for faculty, students and staff with educational technology
platforms and software. Hires, supervises, and coordinates all projects and
    support provided by the STAs.
