Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

  • All,

A big welcome to new members! And a reminder about the CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative’s second meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 13th October, from 6:30pm-8:30pm in room 6417 at the Graduate Center.

Educational technologists Mikhail Gershovich, Joe Ugoretz, and Luke Waltzer will be discussing technology and pedagogy in the context of their work, and the Digital Humanities. Boone Gorges will talk about his work on Anthologize, focusing on how/whether/to what extent tool-building can be understood as part of DH when DH is understood as an academic discipline. There’ll be drinks and snacks too.

For more details and suggested readings, see:

We hope you’ll be able to join us.

    Best,

    Charlie and Matt
