Calandra Institute
In 1976, Italian Americans were designated an “affirmative action” group. In 1979 the Italian American Institute to Foster Higher Education was formed by NY State Legislators, which was eventually transformed into the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute (Queens College), located in mid-town Manhattan. This group will serve as a forum for all things Italian and Italian/American within CUNY.
