Subject: My struggle to adapt in the American culture in a short amount of time.

Date: 2/21/19

The purpose of my narrative was to show my transition from one culture to another. I had to get accost timed to so many things in a short amount of time: the food, the schooling system, new goals and most importantly, a new language. My narrative also establishes the fact that it’s is hard to change cultures as well as countries and it is okay to not fit in. People get lost in this and lose a sense of their personality. Sometimes, people are not also welcoming, which may create a sense of fear to try to get comfortable. Lastly, it is a benefit to know many languages, as it helps you learn another one easier and in different situations (with foreigners).

This narrative was fun to write because when one has an experience, that creates an impact that makes him/her easier to recall very vivid memories. Because this experience was significant for me, I remembered the smallest details. The fact that it was a narrative made it simpler to write. It was like I was conversing with one of my peer/friend. Creating memories and writing them down is very important. It makes one realize the degree of the impact some moments affect him or her. For instance, looking back at it, I used to be so worried to know when I will finally start speaking English fluently and thinking that it will not be possible. I am the living example to tell you that it was easier than I thought and everything will be fine.
