This picture reminds me of the Second Lecture of psychoanalysis. This reminds me of how Freud was using the person banging on door context to describe repression. So he was saying the person in the room is conscious mind whereas out of the room is the unconscious mind. The person who was causing disturbance is kicked out which is an analogy to the trauma problem. The door is locked in the picture which Freud would explain is resistance thus causing the person out of the room to be repressed meaning pushed out of mind. The banging on door is the symptoms which wants to go to the conscious mind. This is what I think of whenever I look at the picture.
