Please join us for the following event:
No Accident–Prosecuting Crimes of Power: Wage Theft and Unsafe Conditions in the Construction Industry

    April 15 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, CUNY School of Law, Room 1/203
    Urban construction site with crains
Construction is booming in New York City and beyond. Along with it, several construction corporations engage in wage theft, violations of workplace safety standards resulting in economic and physical injury and even death. Construction injuries are often portrayed as “accidents.” This program will explain why they are no accident, that they are often systemic, why they affect us all, and how to address these crimes of power, enforce the law, and protect workers and communities effectively.

    Confirmed speakers:

Manuel Castro, Executive Director, New Immigrant Community Empowerment
Daniel Walcott, New York City District Council of Carpenters
Hon. Catalina Cruz, New York State Assembly Member, 39th District (Queens)
Hon. Linda Rosenthal, New York State Assembly Member, 67th District (Manhattan)
Leah Keith, Assistant District Attorney, New York County District Attorney’s Office
