Allison Douglass uploaded Charles Busch Archives to
Introduction to Doctoral Studies in English: English 70000 10 years, 2 months ago Since we had such a great trip to the archives this week, I thought I’d pass along an NYPL archive that Jason Baumann suggested to me. Attached is the file list for the Charles Busch papers in their collection. If you aren’t familiar with Busch, he’s a New York playwright and drag artist who has, in my opinion, done some of the most interesting work available in translating drag sensibilities into the language of full-scale theatrical productions (one of my all-time favorites is Vampire Lesbians of Sodom). The NYPL collection contains manuscripts, screenplays, correspondence, and other surrounding documents like original programs. However, since you have to go to the NYPL to look at them in person, I’m not sure this listing counts as a nugget. So I’ll also include some clips here that will maybe give you a sense of what he does — I’m choosing stuff from the 1990 film Psycho Beach Party, which is an adaptation of his play — he stars in both versions. The first link is to a page on his website that has the trailer and some selected scenes. The second is is to the full-length film on youtube, but you do have to pay $1.99 to watch it, so I wanted to include the free stuff as well. 1) http://www.charlesbusch.com/Psycho_Beach_Party_Clips/psycho_beach_party2.htm 2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeCeaP6XYmc
