Academic Interests

My research focus is scholarly communication, very broadly construed: Recent projects look at concerns surrounding open access dissertations, attitudes about practice-based library literature, and the professional experiences of hard of hearing librarians. I am committed to advancing nonprofit community-led open access initiatives; I recently wrapped up three years as chair of the editorial board of the Journal of Librarianship and Scholarly Communication and am co-founder and managing editor of the Journal of Graduate Librarianship.
