Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

Free (Pilot) Analog STEAM+D Bootcamp

  • The Loisaida Center (710 East 9th Street) will be holding a 3-day free analog design workshop from April 6 to April 9 (6pm – 9pm). The workshop will be guided by NEUUKO.

    Day 1
    Wednesday, April 6th – Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
    DESIGN THINKING & PROBLEM RECOGNITION
    Students will learn the basics of solution-based thinking. Exercises and case studies will teach participants how to think outside and apply effective brainstorming to the creation process.

    Day 2
    Thursday, April 7th – Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
    HOW TO TELL YOUR STORY
    This workshop will guide the student through the process of developing a narrative that will get your design noticed. This workshop will provide the graphic and communication skills needed to move the project into a selling pitch or a product development opportunity.

    Day 3
    Friday, April 8th – Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
    OPPORTUNITY RECOGNITION
    Participants will develop easy qualitative and quantitative skills to assess whether ideas and designs have business potential. Assess whether your idea can lead to a viable business and how to turn your initial idea into a solid business concept.
