Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

Call for DH Talks by NYC Graduate Students for MediaRes #2

  • *Apologies for cross posting*

Media Res, a series of talks on digital humanities (DH) projects in NYC , is looking for graduate student presenters to give lightning talks on in-progress DH work for Media Res #2. Building on the success of its inaugural event at the CUNY Graduate Center, Media Res #2, hosted at the NYU Center for the Humanities on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, will showcase a range of graduate student DH work and foster community across NYC universities. Graduate students at all levels and disciplines are invited to propose a five minute talk about their DH project. Talks may focus on theoretical questions driving their DH project, challenges involved in project development, or how others might utilize similar tools and methods. Interested participants should email a 250 word abstract of their talk to aaronplasek@gmail.com. Anyone interested in the NYC Digital Humanities community is encouraged to register at NYCDH.org and sign up for the Announcement group.
