Linda Gerena

Dr. Gerena is a Professor and the Interim Chair in the Department of Teacher Education at York College. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy/Bilingual Education, MAs in TESOL, and Urban Bilingual Education. Her professional interests are Dual Immersion Bilingual Education, L1 Support, L2 Acquisition Theory & Pedagogy, Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP), Content & Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), International Efforts to Improve Pedagogy (Bologna Process, 2018 EHEA) & Effective Teaching Practices. Dr. Gerena: Bilingual teacher, researcher, teacher educator, advocate for 4 decades; Fulbright Scholar; USDOE EL Specialist. NSF researcher (6 years) on literacy practices for secondary NYC ELLs; 2019 PSC-CUNY Enhanced Award to research effective practices in NYC Dual Bilingual programs. Provided PD for Bilingual & CLIL teachers in Spain 2013-2019
