Doctoral Candidate

I am a doctoral candidate in English at the CUNY Graduate Center. My dissertation “Street Theater: Gender, Performance, and the Urban from _Plessy_ (1896) to _Brown_ (1954)” explores the relationship of the built environment of New York City to the ordinary performances marginalized women stage upon it in novels.

Academic Interests

My main areas of expertise and interest include 19th and 20th century American literature, African American literature, drama and performance, race, gender, sexuality, space, and identity.

Education

I earned my M.A. in Humanities/ English from the University of Chicago in 2007. I earned my B.A. in English Literature and Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Virginia in 2002.
