The CUNY Graduate Center’s Teaching and Learning Center invites applications for Teaching and Learning Center Fellowships for the 2016-17 academic year. TLC Fellows support CUNY Graduate Center students who are teaching across CUNY by holding open office hours, developing workshops and other public programs, producing TLC Guides for the Center’s web site, and contributing to a variety of special projects. During the 2015-16 academic year, TLC fellows produced guides and workshops relating to educational technology, writing pedagogy, and working with diverse student populations. During the 2016-17 academic year, these themes will continue, and will expand to include quantitive and scientific methodologies, and the relationship of teaching to alternative academic careers.

This is a terrific opportunity to join a team of committed educators who are thinking through what a graduate-level teaching and learning center at the nation’s largest, urban, public university can and should look like.

GC TLC Fellows report to the director of the Teaching and Learning Center. Ideal candidates will be deeply engaged with the City University of New York, and will be experienced college teachers familiar with emerging pedagogical trends. Strong writing, technical, and presentational skills are required, as is current enrollment in a doctoral program at the Graduate Center. Former CUNY Writing and Quantitative Reasoning Fellows are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits: total compensation for this fellowship is approximately $27,000. This funding will include a graduate assistant appointment that will carry eligibility to purchase the low-cost NYSHIP health insurance, a stipend, and in-state tuition remission for fellows who are within their first 10 registered semesters of study. Teaching and Learning Center Fellows will be required to work a total of 450 non-teaching hours during the academic year (two 15-week semesters). This position comes with the possibility of reappointment.

To apply: please send a statement of interest (no more than 1-2 pages), a CV, and the names of three references via email to Luke Waltzer, Director, Teaching and Learning Center, The Graduate Center, at lwaltzer@gc.cuny.edu with “TLC Fellows Application” in the subject line. Applications must be received by April 8th, 2016 to be considered.
