Poetry and Poetics

The group is designed to allow practicing poets and teachers of creative writing to share ideas, information, and work as well as pose questions regarding the practice and teaching of poetry and the world of poetry in NYC and on-line.

    I'm delighted to announce the winners of the inaugural CUNY Undergraduate Poetry (CUP) Awards:

    Lyric Poetry:

    Mary Williams, Hunter College for "Jazz Icarus"
    Rachel Cartee, Hunter College for "Daedelus Grieving"
    Ricci Niles, BMCC for "UpSouth"

    Dramatic Monologue:

    Becky McFalls, Brooklyn College for "William"
    Jordan Franklin, Brooklyn College for "Viola Lesson"

    Closed Forms:

    Shara Concepcion, BMCC for "Contemporary Physics"

    Many thanks to the final judge, Estha Weiner, and to category chairs Elizabeth Berlinger, Catherine Cammillieri, Aimee Record and Marguerite Rivas.

    The award ceremony will be held in the Hudson Room at BMCC on Friday April 29th from 3-5. All group members are welcome to attend.
