I definitely like the idea of having something OA-related at the CUE Conference, but the focus on undergraduate education means we would have to pitch our proposal just right. Maybe something on open access textbooks, perhaps in coordination with the LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee?

Textbooks: yes! Open access: yes! Lowering the enormous costs most of our students bear ought to be win-win all around. One hopes that not only student government associations but faculty governance entities also pick up this ball and run with it. Not to mention college and university administrators. (Well, it’s an oddly shaped ball.)

I heartily agree that a program on Open Access Textbooks would be of great interest. Perhaps we could get a speaker from a campus where this is being implemented.
