Reminder: LACUNY Scholarly Communications Round Table meeting, Sept 11, 2pm

  • Hi All,

Karen and I are looking forward to seeing everyone at the fall meeting. As we decided in June, the meeting will be on September 11 at 2pm, most likely at the Graduate Center (we’ll confirm location closer to the date).

    Here’s a draft agenda:

    1. Potential fall programs for OA week
–Institutional Repository Lessons Learned with Jill Cirasella and an introduction to the new CUNY Schol Comm librarian (if s/he is on board)
–Screening and discussion of The Internet’s Own Boy, a documentary about information activist Aaron Swartz (http://www.takepart.com/internets-own-boy)

    2. Potential spring program
–Altmetrics and impact factors with Marta Blaydek and Meg Smith from NYU

    3. OA materials / toolkit / course for training the trainer
–follow up on Beth’s ideas for OA week outreach
–Ideas for a toolkit (example from ACRL: http://scholcomm.acrl.ala.org/)
–Or a course (similar to Steve Ovadia’s open course on OER: https://canvas.instructure.com/courses/815700)

Let us know if you have suggestions for other items, and look forward to seeing you in September.

    best,

    jean
