The copyright committee was thinking about proposing a session for the CUNY IT conference this year, especially since one of the questions from the CFP makes it sound relevant: [“4. What do we need to think through together? (And how do we move from thought to action?): What challenges await us on such fronts as academic integrity and intellectual property, the scheduling of classes and the integration of the University? How do we need to think about changing forms of publication (whether of textbooks or scholarship)? What new opportunities exist for collaboration?”]

But I was thinking that this also sounds particularly relevant to scholarly communication & open access week.

This is still very vague but…would anyone be interested in putting together something with the copyright committee? Scholarly communication/copyright/libraries…Perhaps we could propose something that involved a review of online tools to help make decisions about copyright (also talking about the potential biases of the various copyright info sources out there). Then we could talk about the potential of developing more open access textbooks/learning resources….just thinking out loud, here.

    Anyone interested?
