Copyright & Distance Learning Webinar – April 30, 2013 @ 2pm – Open to all in CUNY

  • CUNY libraries will be offering a one-hour virtual seminar “How Recent Copyright Court Cases Affect Distance Education: What Educators Need to Know About Copyright” on April 30, 2 pm, at John Jay College (library classroom). The presenter, Linda Enghagen, University of Massachusetts at Amherst is the author of Fair Use Guidelines for Educators. Enghagen will guide attendees through a review of best practices in fair use, including distribution of course material and assignment design. The webinar will show how to establish and implement policies to assure copyright compliance.

The event will be available live, at one site, at John Jay College on that day. We will have rights to view the recording for thirty days following and we will pass that information on to those interested at a later date, but the live viewing will also include an open discussion after the seminar among attendees on the day of the event.

This webinar contains important information for all who teach partial or fully online courses or administer online programs at CUNY. Please help in promoting to anyone at your college involved in distance learning, especially administrators and instructional designers.
