    Dear colleagues,

    The LACUNY Professional Development  Committee (PDC) is hosting a Spring 2019  event.

    “Work/Life Balance: Library faculty on navigating tenure and personal lives.”

    A CUNY Panel Featuring:

    Stacy Katz, Assistant Professor Open Resources-STEM Liaison Librarian Lehman College

    Derek Stadler, Assistant Professor Web Services Librarian LaGuardia Community College

    Sarah Laleman Ward, Associate Professor Outreach Reference/Instructional Librarian Hunter College

    The LACUNY PDC event features Professors Katz, Stadler and Laleman Ward who will speak about their experiences navigating the tenure process while managing their personal lives.

    Professor Katz is an accomplished junior faculty librarian who is in her first year of tenure track. Her recent journal article “But What do the Students Think: Results of the CUNY Cross-Campus Zero-Textbook Cost Student Survey” was recently published by OPEN Praxis.

    Professor Stadler is an accomplished junior faculty who is in his third year of tenure track. He recently presented “Reframing Failure: Post Mortems for Library Projects” at ACRL New England Chapter Annual conference.

    Professor Laleman Ward is an accomplished senior faculty who recently became tenured in fall 2018. Her publication “Comics, Questions, Action! Engaging Students and Instruction Librarians with the Comics-Questions Curriculum” was recently published by the Journal of Information Literacy.

    This will be an informal panel discussion and Q&A where the following topics will be addressed:

      *   Juggling multiple fronts

      *   Prioritizing Work vs Family or Family vs Work

      *   It takes a village: creating a network of support

      *   Tips and strategies for doing it all

      *   Saying no when asked to step up

      *   Managing the different stages of tenure track

      *   CUNY resources for assistance

    Junior faculty (full-time and adjunct) and those new to the tenure and promotion process are encouraged to attend.

    LOCATION: CUNY Central office, 205 E 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017 Room 42-0770

    DATE: Friday April 5, 2019

    TIME: 2:00pm to 3:30pm
