The LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee Presents:
Makerspace Tour + BYOB Happy Hour

    Friday, May 2, 2014
    4:00pm – 6:00pm
NYC Resistor [87 3rd Ave (4th Fl), Brooklyn, NY]

Join us for a tour of NYC Resistor, a community technology hub, and celebrate the almost-end of the spring semester with your fellow librarians!

NYC Resistor is a fantastic example of a community workspace dedicated to supporting technology projects. As more libraries are embracing makerspaces, hack labs, digital media studios, and other kinds of collaborative workspaces, let’s see what a highly successful tech-based collective looks like. We’ll get a tour of the (super fun and very inspiring) space, see some projects both in-progress and completed, and chitchat over BYO drinks and snacks.

The Emerging Tech Committee will provide some food & drink (alcoholic & non), but we ask attendees to bring a little something to share, too!

Please note that, unfortunately, NYC Resistor is an industrial loft located in a 4th-floor walkup. Attendees must be able to walk up multiple flights of stairs. By law, they cannot use the freight elevator for passengers. Wear comfortable shoes and note that fancy outfits might be snagged or soiled — it’s a live workspace with tools and in-progress projects all around.

Open to all CUNY librarians and library staff but space is limited! RSVP here: http://goo.gl/wcgt1k

    Cheers,
    Robin Davis (JJ)
    Stephen Zweibel (HC)
    Allie Verbovetskaya (OLS)
    [LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee Co-Chairs]
