Global History & Political Futures > A Unique GC Initiative

How might a creative engagement with historicity and temporality destabilize the standard approaches to culture, economy, society, place, and law that characterize contemporary studies of global transformation? This seminar will examine the differential production and circulation of knowledges about history, historicity, and time as they are lived and contested in theory, politics, and the arts/cultural arena.

The group will initially meet once a month to pursue the works-in-progress of student and faculty members. Given this seminar’s unique three-year structure, participants are asked for a long-term commitment to cultivate an enduring interdisciplinary space for collaborative thinking, cultural critique, and new scholarship. Ideally, such scholarship would be submitted to journals, presented at conferences, and published in an edited volume. Participants are expected to come prepared to discuss and workshop pre-distributed readings.
