Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

Next Meeting: Patrik Svensson on “Designing the Digital Humanities” – Wed Feb 23

  • Hi everyone,

As you may have seen on the schedule, on Wednesday February 23 we’re lucky enough to be hosting Patrik Svensson, director of HUMlab at UmeĆ„ University, Sweden. His talk is titled “Designing the Digital Humanities,” and draws on his four-article series on DH. Parts 1 and 2 have already appeared in Digital Humanities Quarterly:
Part 1 – “Humanities Computing as Digital Humanities” – http://digitalhumanities.org/dhq/vol/3/3/000065/000065.html
Part 2 – “The Landscape of Digital Humanities” – http://digitalhumanities.org/dhq/vol/4/1/000080/000080.html
    And here’s Patrik’s site: http://patrik.humlab.umu.se/

As one of Matt’s followers on twitter, @triplingual (Trip Kirkpatrick), said: “@mkgold Loved @patriksv talk at Yale last fall. @cunydhi in for thoughtful stuff.”

It should be a great evening — hope you can make it.

Wednesday, Feb 23, 6:30-8:30pm, CUNY Grad Center, Room 9205.
