Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

Looking for Java programmer for paid work

  • Apologies for cross posting…

I am looking for a research assistant who has experience with Java. I am working on a project called “Print Wikipedia.” It is a software art project that parses the entire Wikipedia database and produces approximately 4000 volumes of print ready PDFs to be uploaded to Amazon via their CreateSpace print on demand service.

I am looking to do some pre-production before I head off to Banff Centre for the Arts in May for a 3-week intensive production residency. I have some code that has been left dormant for a while, and isn’t compiling right now. It needs to be debugged, before moving forward. ***and I don’t write Java*** Code is here: https://github.com/mandiberg/printwikipedia

I am looking for someone who can write Java and communicate well. I have some funds to pay, and will credit the student/graduate for their work in the project’s credits.

Please feel free to pass this on to appropriate candidates or those who might know them, but please do not post on public lists. Have them contact me via the commons, or via email at myfirstname@mylastname.com

    Thanks!

    Michael
