The Reading Cities project seeks a graduate student developer with interests in digital humanities, public history, website development and/or user experience design for a paid, short- term project using WordPress, Omeka, and Neatline. Currently, Reading Cities uses Omeka and Neatline to map archival materials linked to literary texts. In order to facilitate the adoption of this tool in CUNY Commons for use by CUNY students, we need to replicate its core functionalities in WordPress. The developer will conduct an assessment of the user workflow and vital functions in the current platform; research plug-in’s and other WordPress customizations in order to approximate these functions; and develop a WordPress-based version of the project in CUNY Commons. While this project requires familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress and Omeka, it does not require coding. However, basic html and/or CSS would be helpful.
