    Dear Professor Gold,

    Caveat[caveat.nyc]
is hosting a live show about net neutrality and the future of the internet
that might be of interest to your society. On Thursday 2/8, director,
    writer and organizer Astra Taylor[hiddendriver.com]
    will
    join Greta Byrum[newamerica.org]
Co-Director of the Digital Equity Lab at The New School and Director of the
Resilient Communities Program at The New America Foundation, plus host Meehan
    Crist[meehancrist.com]
    (meehancrist.com)
to ask: *How will the fight over net neutrality shape our digital future?* I
thought the CUNY Data Analysis and Visualization department would be
    particularly
interested because net neutrality is an issue that is sure to be a central
concern to data scientists for years to come.

Would you be able to help us get the word out by posting and/or sending out
the announcement below to folks in your network who you think might be
    interested?

If you would like to bring a group, please let me know and I will happily
provide you with a group discount code. You can buy tickets and get more
info on this event here: http://caveat.nyc/event/conver

CONVERGENCE: The Future of the Internet

    Caveat[caveat.nyc]

    Thursday 2/8/18, 7pm (21+)

Last month the FCC voted to repeal net neutrality, opening the door
to internet service providers eager to create slow and fast lanes for
different types of sites and services. But the fight over a free and equal
internet is far from over – Montana just became the first state to pass its
own net neutrality laws. So, what sort of Internet will we have in the
future? What is at stake in this fight and why?

This month: Director, writer and organizer Astra Taylor[hiddendriver.com]
    will
    join Greta Byrum[newamerica.org]
Co-Director of the Digital Equity Lab at The New School and Director of the
Resilient Communities Program at The New America Foundation, will join
    host Meehan
    Crist[meehancrist.com]
    (meehancrist.com)
    as
we ask: *How will the fight over net neutrality shape our digital future?*
