Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

Conversation w/ ProQuest, 12/1, 1pm. Come with questions!

  • Hello everyone,

Please join the Futures Initiative and the Library for a discussion about ProQuest’s role in the changing dissertation landscape. Austin McLean, Director of Scholarly Communication and Dissertations Publishing at ProQuest, will be in conversation with Polly Thistlethwaite, CUNY Graduate Center Chief Librarian. This event follows from last month’s #remixthediss panel, where many questions about ProQuest arose during the Q&A period.

ProQuest’s role is complex, and I have no doubt that this will be a very interesting discussion. Join us in person at the Graduate Center in room C196.05 (coffee and treats provided), or tune into the livestream at bit.ly/FuturesEd-live (no coffee, sorry!). I’m sure members of this group will have some excellent questions to ask.

    More information is available here.
