Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

ACRL Scholarly Communications Roadshow

  • Posted by Anonymous on

    Hi All-

I just wanted to let you know that CUNY will be hosting the ACRL Scholarly Communications Roadshow at Brooklyn College on June 3rd, which may be of interest to folks who wish to know more about the subject and join the conversation that we’ve begun having in the libraries. This event will be geared towards librarians, but given that there seems to be interest across the disciplines, we’re delighted to extend the invite to members of this community as well.

Announcement and registration link below, please let me know if you have any questions:

CUNY will host the ACRL’s Scholarly Communications 101 Road Show on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Brooklyn College. As part of this event, two expert presenters will offer a presentation and workshop entitled “Scholarly Communication 101: Starting with the Basics”, which will focus on new methods of scholarly publishing and communication; copyright and intellectual property; economics; and open access. The program is targeted toward librarians and library staff who require a foundational understanding of these issues, including subject liaisons or those with new leadership assignments related to research and scholarly inquiry.

The two speakers for the workshop will be:

    • Molly Kleinman, Copyright Specialist and Special Projects Librarian, University of Michigan Library

    • Joy Kirchner, Librarian, Collections, Licensing & Digital Scholarship, University of British Columbia Library

Following the ACRL workshop, afternoon break-out sessions will expand on issues raised by the presenters as well as related topics.
