The Journal of Interactive Technology and Pedagogy Seeking Submissions – Extended Deadline – May 15

    cordially invites submissions by May 15, 2012 for our upcoming second issue.

    What kinds of subjects are you interested in?

    We welcome any work that engages an audience in critical and creative uses of interactive technology in teaching, learning, and research. Submissions that focus on pedagogy directly should balance theoretical frameworks with practical considerations of how new technologies play out in the classroom. Research-based submissions should include discussions of approach, method, and analysis.

    What might that look like, in terms of genre?

    Send us audio or visual presentations, interviews, dialogues, or conversations, creative works, manifestos, jeremiads, even traditional long-form articles. For our technical details – file formats, documentation style, etc – please see our complete guidelines at

    What makes JITP different?

    We are committed first and foremost to teaching and learning, and intend that the journal itself – both in process and in product – serve as an opportunity to reveal, reflect on, and revise academic publication and classroom practice. To honor that commitment, all submissions will be considered for our new Behind the Seams feature, in which we will publish initial drafts and submissions alongside final revised work, as well as author-editor communications, dynamic representations of revisions and editing, and discussion about the process among the participants.

    Is this a peer-reviewed journal?

    We believe that peer review has much to offer the academic community, and therefore all work appearing in the Issues section of JITP is reviewed independently by two scholars in the field, who provide formative feedback to the author in order to produce the best quality final product.     At the same time, we also believe that the academic community has much to gain in broadening the definition of peer review, and therefore our ToolTips, TeachingFAIL, Assignments, and Reviews sections operate under a publish-then-peer-review model. We invite our knowledgeable readership to join our editorial collective and board members in rich, constructive, public conversation with our authors about their ideas – and to start new conversations by becoming authors yourselves.     Can I submit something already published elsewhere?

    No, all work should be original and previously unpublished. Essays or presentations posted on a personal blog may be accepted, provided they are substantially revised; please contact us with any questions. As a courtesy to our reviewers, we will not consider simultaneous submissions, but we will do our best to reply to you within 2-3 months of the submission deadline.
