The LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee is looking for presenters for an upcoming event addressing the use of mobile technologies in libraries. If you have an interest in or experience with using mobile technologies to deliver library services, we would like to hear from you. The committee is looking for brief (approx. 30 minutes) presentations on issues related to the design, implementation, assessment, and/or promotion of mobile library services. Possible topics include:
* Mobile web or OPAC design and usability
* Using text-messaging to deliver reference service or library notifications
* Delivering content via e-readers and other handheld devices
* Creating mobile audio tours
* Using geolocation apps for library tours, orientations, or instruction
* Using QR codes to enhance library collections, catalog records, promotions, exhibits, etc.
Details are still being finalized but we’re hoping to set a date sometime in late April. If you are interested in participating, please send a brief (100 words or less) proposal to Ann Matsuuchi [amatsuuchi@lagcc.cuny.edu] or Joseph Deodato [joseph.deodato@csi.cuny.edu] by March 18th.
