Anyone using Tablets in the classroom?

  • At Queensborough we have approximately 75 faculty members using iPads for various purposes. Most are using the “Attendance” or “Gradebook Pro” app for classroom organization. Some are using an iPad while teaching to present materials in classrooms that are equiped with a projector. Some are using the iPad to create Khan Academy-like “movies” using “ScreenChomp” or “Explain Everything” for student viewing. We are about to embark on three new projects: one where the iPad will be used as a document camera in the classroom; another where the iPad is used in conjunction with the “Via Response” virtual clicker app as part of the Commons Skunkworks Group project; and one where faculty and students will develop eBooks – faculty for distribution of course materials, and students to hand-in their major projects. All of this is new, so I’m not sure that these are best practices, but they do enliven learning and teaching from both the student and the faculty perspective.

All good stuff. Thanks Much for sharing…
