    Hello All,

Please take a look below at the events of the WC2 Symposium, which is running from 8-9am EST, August 9-12.  The 8/9 session features LaGuardia’s Prof. Olga Aksakalova, who will address new support for COIL partnership development within the WC2 network.  That session will also cover  WC2’s new Peer Partnerships initiative, designed to “create opportunities for collegial engagement on teaching practices across borders.”  Both initiatives can also be previewed at WC2’s Faculty Opportunities page.

Faculty interested in supporting undergraduate or graduate student participation in the WC2 network should also consider events later in the week.

    Best regards,

    Kim

    Dear All,
I’m delighted to invite you to the WC2 Network’s upcoming 2021 Virtual Symposium: Connecting Global Cities, scheduled for the week of August 9th. This year’s Symposium takes place from 8-9 a.m. (EST) daily from August 9-12. This event is open to CUNY faculty, staff, and students free of charge.
WC2, co-founded by CUNY and other charter members in 2010, is a global consortium of top universities located in major world cities. By providing a forum for scholars, practitioners, and students from a range of disciplines and from across the globe, the network creates opportunities for interdisciplinary and cross border cooperation. This year’s Symposium will take place entirely online, offering a unique chance for faculty, staff, and students from CUNY and other member universities to learn about opportunities to participate in ongoing network activities.

Details on Symposium activities are as follows:
    Monday, 9 August 2021 — WC2 Annual General Meeting
WC2’s Annual General Meeting will give an overview of network updates, activities during the past year, and aspirations for the coming year. The opening event will include presentations about COIL and Peer Partnership opportunities for faculty and lecturers.

Tuesday, 10 August 2021 — Undergraduate Challenge Showcase and Round Two Launch
In 2020-2021, WC2 launched a pilot virtual project to engage undergraduate students from participating universities in an interdisciplinary, international experience. Students explored the topic of a post-COVID future from multiple thematic lenses. This Symposium event will highlight winning projects from the inaugural Undergraduate Challenge and launch the second annual project.

Wednesday, 11 August 2021 — Research Elevator Pitch Awards
Doctoral and masters students from across the WC2 Network are invited to submitthree-minute videos presenting their research (deadline August 4). Winning entries will be announced and presented at this event, followed by a discussion of opportunities to collaborate across the network.

    Thursday, 12 August 2021 — Theme Showcases
The 2021 Virtual Symposium will conclude with concurrent sessions highlighting various WC2 Themes, including Cybersecurity and Global Health. Sessions continue to be added, please check back.

Please share this invitation with students and with faculty you believe would be interested in attending one or more of these online sessions. You can find the registration links for individual sessionshere. I look forward to seeing you there virtually as your schedules allow!
    Very best,Farryl
